Hopeful Lies
How can you sit there
And say it’s going to be alright
When you know the pain of the night returns
To finish off more of your living soul
And leaves you more empty than the day before
Causing all hope to fade away
Into a vast and lonely pit of sorrow
Were none can be found again
The thought confounds me
How can you live with all the lies you tell
All the lies of happiness
And the hope you spread
Knowing the hope can not last
But only stays long enough to fade away
Leaving your soul sad once more
