Beauty

January 21, 2018

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,"
Now this I firmly believe.
For there are many forms of beauty,
And many ways it is perceived.

For one may look at a forest,
And see nothing but overgrown trees.
But another may look at the same,
And see the colors of the leaves.

They see the roughness of the bark,
And the pinecones grown high.
They see how the green of the branches,
Contrasts with the sky.

They witness a granduer,
That to others is unknown.
So what makes you believe,
That your beauty could be condoned.

For when you look in the mirror,
All you may see is barren land.
A desert full of sinkholes,
Never wanted by another's hands.

But when they witness your being,
All they can perceive.
Is a wonderfully lush garden,
Full of lavender and memories.

So if you feel consumed by self hatred,
And you feel your heart growing colder.
Please try to remember that,
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

My poetry is always inspired by Real life and has a story behind it. This one tells the story of two people in love. One is 'consumed by self hatred' thinking that no one will love them, the other ensures the one that holds the self hate that No matter what, A person is beautiful and it doesnt matter what some think because beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.
