Period

A period is the end.
May it be a sentence,
finished or not.
It may come as a quiet storm
expected, but unwelcome.
It may come abrupt and devastatingly painful
as though it were a car crash.
Life is a period.
Full of unexpected twists.
Full of unexpected turns.
Life is an end.
No matter the place,
no matter the time.
May it be mid-sentence,
may it be the end of a wonderfully long story.
Surely soon the sentence seizes to stammer on
Life comes to an end.
