The Time I Stole the Stars
Some time
Ago
I reached for the stars
And stole them all, one by one
They glowed
Settled in the palms of my hands
And I cried
“I have caught the stars, I have seized the night!”
But the nights turned dark, and I wept
Inevitable, is the black of the night
When beauty is confided
So I returned the stars
Every last one
Because to view them all had made me want them
But I could not have them
So I learned to let them go
