What My Mom Was Like
I am thirteen
and my hair has betrayed me
the mind I cannot live without
filled with questions
never answered
how come my thoughts are
always so complicated
What if I die
before they can answer them
and I’ll never know
what my mom was like
before it happened
I have to learn how to grow
like the woman in the world
my own is to small for me
Suppose I die before I know
They will sing the memories
about a girl
that was just like her mom
There is nothing I want to become
And to much
That has to be known
what my mom was like
before it happened
Nobody even stops to think
about my side of it
I should have both parents
my life would be better than mine
Why do I have to be
The one
to be alone
I have nothing to do tomorrow
will I live long enough
To find answers
what my mom was like
before it happened
