The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long

A tropical mist hovers above the surface of the water.
The humpback whale emerges for a breath,
only capturing a glimpse of the surface.
All a part of the whale’s life journey.
Soft, sensational summons echo throughout the deep blue.
The humpback whale searches for a mate,
only to be unsuccessful.
All a part of the whale’s life journey.
Northern waters are what this specimen calls home.
The humpback whale heads toward land__
because it knows its time is short.
All a part of the whale’s life journey.
Hung above the staircase is where it rests.
The humpback whale now silenced,
only to capture the attention of visitors.
All to end the whale’s life journey.
