Fourteen
I am fourteen
And my sister has betrayed me
She always tells my parents
Whenever I do
The smallest thing
She never keeps secrets
No matter how important
What is life was different
My sister would keep secrets
Even the smallest things
My parents would allow us
To do whatever we please
But no
It would not be that great
We wouldn't learn to do things ourselves
Or learn how the world works
We would grow up
irresponsible and disrespectful
Like the kids
Whose parents don’t care
My teachers are boring
The same routine every day
“Come in, sit down
Do this do that
Do not forget,
This is due Monday!”
The world around me
Taught me things
But maybe I should hold on
To life’s sweeter things
And also I
Should stop telling my sister things
