Teammates trust
I'm fourteen
and my teammates have betrayed me
the ball I can not live without
the ball I still throw hard
in secret
how come the ball
gets thrown at me
what if I get throw out
before I get to home base
and my teammates in the dugout
wih the gate closed
I have to learn how to steal a base
before the next game
My glove is to small for me
suppose I die before I succeed
they will sing a thoughtful song
but finally
tell the truth
there is nothing I want to play
and too much
that has to be learned
and my teammates in the dugout
with the gate closed
nobody ever stops to think
about my side of it
i should have went on a different
team
my home runs were better than hers
why do I have to be
the one
wearing batting gloves
i have no more softballs
i will hit the balls far enough
to get a run
and my teammates in the dugout
with the gate closed
