The Sinner
Clouds darkened and water wrestled rough against the shore
The air turned a smoldering black
There was no looking back
Austin’s toes turned blistering red as he raced along the rocky beach
He could almost taste it, escape was just out of his reach
Each brutal wave sent water weaving through the rocks
He lost his footing and hit the ground, hard
And nearly gathered his strength to get up when something caught him off guard
A glimpse of his own mocking reflection in the clear water
His face grew hotter
Frustrated, he slashed his hand through it
So he didn’t face himself and the crimes he had commit.
