Tall Desire
Trees seemed indestructible.
 With their tall trunks,
 And long limb-like branches.
 Their leaves that changed,
 And fell with beauty,
 And restoration.

 I wanted to be indestructible,
 With long legs,
And lengthy arms, sturdy like branches.
 For my worries to change,
 And fall with strength,
 And hope.

But I didn't know that trees could be broken.
 The wind could blow.
 Their branches could fall,
 And their roots could dry.
They still made a sound as they fell
Even though no one could hear it.

I found that height didn't mean power.
 I could be pushed.
 My heart could break,
And my eyes could dry of their tears.
I still made a sound as I fell
Even though no one could hear me.
