A young boy and his mother appear as small specks in a booming city.
They explore the streets and feel the vibrations of the cars driving past.
Each glistening street light leads them to the next building—
the general store, the Watson House, and the Haymarket Candy Shop.
The boy wanders away from his mother with the sweet smell of candy on his mind.
He is lost in a sea of people each taking in Milwaukee for themselves.
Heart beating and sweat forming, the city has absorbed the boy.
The young boy is me, and I’m trying to find my mother in the Streets of Old Milwaukee.
The streets from the early 1900’s are displayed to perfection,
As I walk the same corners noticing the small details.
Each glistening street light leads me to the next building.
The city seems so real.
I smile, maybe getting lost was a good thing.
