The yelling was overwhelming.
Before knowing my feet were moving,
The door slammed shut behind me.

I heard my name
But I couldn't really hear it.
Yes, the sound waves were there,
But my brain couldn't process it.
It was like the cold rain was stopping the noise
From really reaching my ears.

I kept moving despite water dripping into my eyes,
Despite the cold attacking my pale skin.
I didn't care that shorts and a tank top
Was not appropriate clothes during a storm,
And when thunder lit up the sky.

The sidewalk ended in front of me,
But I ran onto the grass,
Mud soaking in between my toes.
I didn't know where I was going,
But i had convinced myself it was better than where I came from.

I cut through a flower bed
Finding myself running with trees on all sides.
The rain let up, either from the storm moving on, or the trees catching the water.
I burst through the trees and finally stop running.
The rain trickles to a stop as i look up to watch the angry clouds roll away.
I fall to my knees,
Then to my back.
Heaving my breath into the sky tears continue rolling down my cheeks.
The sun greets my cheeks with warmth, calming my freezing skin.

I willed every bad feeling in my bones to leave my fingertips
And fly towards the sun.
I begged every scream in my mind to leave my mouth
And rest on the farthest star in eternity.
