There existed a time, chalked up to fine
Where there were dances, no coin in their pockets.
Around and around, in town with no sound . . .
Paul was his name, her Asian boyfriend.
She met him young, goggled long.
Curled in couches, rendezvous in houses.
Timid confessions, gradual succession.
At clubs and hotels and flying squirrel passes.
Coincidental, fated, magnetized, elated.
And Paul was his name, her Asian boyfriend.
Criss-crossed mountain beside tiny mounds
Shifted tectonically, collided ironically.
Broken in insecurities.
Checked up conspicuously.
Spoken to virtually.
And Paul was his name, her Asian boyfriend.
