Slurping to draw
        its sweetness through the straw
Foolish yellowjacket
as if pulled by a magnet
Dove in headfirst
        trying to quench its thirst
Body submerged
        wings unable to reemerge
Ruining my summer treat
        my savior from the heat
It continued to thrash
        causing liquid to splash
It gave into the struggle
        movement was rare and subtle
My conscience was guilty
        I dumped the glass quickly
Then pled
        hoping it wasn't dead
Its body was shifting
        wings were twitching
Was it dying?
        It should be flying
I began to calm
after it soared off my palm
The striped insect survived
and searched for a new place to thrive
But not before the wasp
        turned and stopped
As if it had been the plan
dove down and stung my hand

Don't you worry your pretty little mind, people throw rocks at things that shine.

Faith, this is my favorite poem ever. Like seriously, out of all the poems in the world, this is my favorite one.
