masked.
I wear a mask.
It isn’t one that is shown,
It is one that comes from within.
I wear a mask.
It covers more than what can be seen.
It wants to stay.
I wear a mask.
It is suffocating
And limits my words.
I wear a mask.
I want to say so much-
But who will listen?
I wear a mask.
Because I am silenced
To the point where I am
Afraid.

This piece describes the mask that we all have, because we have been silenced by society in one way or another. Your mask might be caused by a different event or moment in time, but I'd like to think that we all have a mask.
