Going Home

The rain hit the ground hard

Crack!
The little turtle peeked his head out of his shell
Then the rest of his body
He started the long journey to the water
The screeching of seagulls was like a war cry
All of the turtles scurried toward the sand
The little turtle ran toward the water
Dodging seagull beaks as he went
He slowed down
He wanted to give up
The wind seemed to whisper, “Keep going”
With a renewed energy he went faster
Rain drops pelted his little body
A few more steps!
He made it
The warm water was a hug
He was home
