Hypocrisy

Everyone wants to be on top

But once we're there we just wait for the other shoe to drop

Slaving away for a better day no one's seen

Selling our souls for that "American dream"

Everyone's telling me that's how it's supposed to be

Minus the hypocrisy

And they wonder why I'm angry

Living in a world full of tragedies

But all we care about is how we're seen

Nobody cries until that body on the street is their family

Then it becomes reality

So tired of people telling me what I already know

Changing the facts to fit their rap

Do I look that slow?

Set up to fail, but dying to succeed

Playing chess without a king

Wondering why i'm leaving

Tired of surviving

Tell me, when's it gonna be my time

To preach God in the day and sleep with Satan at night

Repeating lies like nursery rhymes

The author's comments:

I was inspired by the recent political situation and what i see on my daily news feed. It seems like everyday is a new crisis. And everyday the powers at be pretend it's some unavoidable tragedy when it's been proven to be the opposite. It's frustration beyond words, but i did my best to put it into some.
