Moth to a Flame
Words hurt worse than broken bones.
I found those words in a letter you wrote me.
An apology, maybe?
Or was that what I mistakened it to be?
You knew what you were doing,
But were addicted to the game.
Convincing me to cloud my mind,
While yours remained crystal clear.
You made me laugh,
You made me cry,
My pain was your dopamine.
You were an addict,
We both were.
You lit a fire inside me.
Engulfed in the flames,
I just couldn’t get enough.
You were the rotting fruit, I the fly
Slowly going sour only attracted me more.
I’m sorry was a sweet nothing breathed in my ear.
Please, just one more chance...
Contemplating what I am about to do,
I return to you like a moth to a flame.
