Coverup
American child at Iranian village:
Where is her hair,
Which should be flowing freely
From her head?
Sir, I’d like to braid it.
In America where I come from,
Mommies don’t hide their hair
Or all of their skin.
There are wigs,
There are curls,
There are all shades of color,
There are legs and arms in plain sight.
But, there are not strange wraps
Which hide things from view.
Sir, why is she more covered than you?
