I Didn't Know
I always thought,
those who linger in the dark
were souls of evil and sin.
They are there to sneak and creep
in the whirling wind.
I always thought,
those who bask in the sun
were the ones who had sunshine filled heads
And laughed and played
at the thought of a rainy day.
I didn’t know
those who lingered in the dark
are just people who are scared and lost.
The silent screams never escape the borders of their mind.
I didn’t know
those who basked in the sun
were just afraid
to show that they are the same
as the shadows they cast.
