Going to the Beach
Six hour drive to Lafayette-
Sleep most of the way, watch Momma Mia,
Spend the night with B-nuge (she’s the coolest),
Eat some shrimp po-boys, Marrain comes over,
Watch Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with William,
Wake up early in the A.M.,
Drink some Community Coffee,
Reload  the car, late as always,
Six hours more to Destin, it’s feeling long,
See the big whale on the wall, watch the water-
We are almost there. Roll down the windows;
Smell the air, the water, refreshing.
Unload the entire car, drenched in sweat;
Find our condo, rooming with William.
Change into swimsuits’, put on some sunscreen.
Walk down to the beach, backpack on back.
Hot hot hot cement under my bare feet-
Finally, see over the boardwalk.
