We were walking down a path
Seemingly trapped in the midnight zone
Drowning in fear and anxiety
The only thing keeping me sane
Is the tic
Toc
Tic
Of feet
Carefully caressing the ground
As if the floor would shatter
          B          s
         e              u
                n     h
                     e     t
                          a

As I pace a few steps ahead of everyone
The ground begins to tremble, even the earth is shivering
Afraid of the dark, the leaf blanket blocked any of the light from stars
Bulls stamping their feet, ready to charge.

The man is indistinguishable from the tangled group
However the friends and family slithered apart
Averting our bodies from the noise
Illustrating an image of pure horror

  Stumbling before my friends
My feet seem to fail me and my knees go weak
I want to fall but the terror brings me to reality
Chainsaw massacre has begun.

Reality is shaken by the horrifying-whisper of the motor
Ready to slice you in half
I sprang to life with adrenaline and shot to the side
But before I knew it
The man had gone to the woods again
The trap, reset.

Still drenched by the nerves that engulfed me
Burning my trust of the forest around me
Light on the edge of reality
Bobbing
Like an anglerfish
The group closed in towards the light
Rejoicing
For the terror was over

I wrote this piece because it reminded me of when things used to be happy and being scared was fun. Nowadays, one can never tell whether something is real or fake because there are crazy people that want to hurt people. This piece shows how fun and overdramatic one is ina fake scare situation.
