The Things I Would Do
The Things I Would Do
The things I would do to see you one more time.
To hear your deep, caring voice,
to see your dark brown eyes glisten when you grin.
The things I would do to travel back for just a day,
long enough to see your smiling face
and hear that laugh from miles away.
Jamming in your with the base,
all through town, driving fast,
riding with the windows down, having a blast.
The things I would do to feel your strong arms wrap around me
and squeeze me tight.
To share a final meal with you
to laugh and smile just one more night.
I would give it all, money, power, fame
to have you back, and just the same.
Sometimes I pace down the hall,
knowing I miss you most of all.
I stop at your contact on my phone,
forgetting you are gone, and I am alone.
Oh, the many things I would do
to simply hear you say, "I love you."

My grandpa who passed away about 8 years ago inspired me to write this poem. He was one of my best friends growing up, and I miss him dearly.
