I am from

crying my eyes out when I switched schools,
sobbing because I moved away from my best friend,
and watching her find better friends.

I am from

my dad saying, “If you’re five  minutes early you are just on time” every time I had somewhere I needed to be,
and my mom saying, “Don’t do anything stupid” every time I left the house.

I am from

Koda, Nova,
Budda, and
Peach.

I am from

a sunlit sand metallic house,
widows taking up walls,
jingling bells, and squeaky doors.

I am from

an eight-foot teddy bear that waits for me to return to my bed at night,
four dogs that run to me when I walk through the door at the end of the day,
and walking to Ashley’s house the whole summer.

I am from

staying up finishing homework,
binge watching Netflix,
and going to Culver’s for fries and custard.

I am from

sleepovers with Ashley on the weekends, while we are both about to fall over after the school week.
Studying for tests the night before,
and adventuring through woods and trails with my sister.

I am from

dark brown hair,
chocolate brown eyes,
and tan skin.

I am from

going out to eat on Tuesdays,
staying home on Sundays,
and football games on Fridays.

I am from

going trick or treating with my best friend,
homecoming with my first real boyfriend,
and going to church for the first time.

I am from

walking up to the stage on my eighth grade graduation,
honor roll breakfasts with my dad,
and the peaceful walks to North for a class in the middle of the day my sophomore year.
