" How wonderful it it, that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world"

~Anne Frank

I walked and I didn’t stop.
I passed the tall oak tree,
and didn’t stop.
I saw the group of Blue Jays,
sitting on a stray log,
but still, I didn’t stop.

I told myself I would walk
until my legs couldn't
carry me any farther.
I said I would travel,
as far as I could see.
So I didn’t stop.

I passed the lonely frog,
sitting on the edge of the path.
I ran my hands through the tall
wheat fields surrounding me.
I saw the reflection of a single
hummingbird in a nearby pond.

And I stopped.

I stopped when I saw him,
the little piece of life,
that has no worry.
I stopped, because if he can
sit there, all alone, and still be happy,
Why can’t I?

And that’s when I realized,
I can’t because I am tethered.
Tethered to the very thing,
that is my home, my family,
My life.- Looking.

Looking at that bird
that just changed my life. -
That once you’ve loved something,
The way I do. There's no leaving.

So I turned around, back the way I came.
And walked, to the home, family, and life
That I love so very much.
All because of a humming bird.
I walked, and I didn’t stop.

I hope that what people get from this poem is that no matter how far gone you are from somthing, you can always choose to turn around and go back whenever you feel is the right time to do so.
