An American Soldier
He gets up early in the morning,
goes to bed late at night,
fights his enemies
with all his might.
He does not do it for his own good
nor for the glory,
he does it for those back home,
the ones he loves and holds dear,
those who would never know
how it felt to be there.
He fights alongside his brothers,
who know that every breath
may just be their last.
They trudge on through the days
through the deserts and the heat,
looking left and right,
for anything that might,
ruin his day
and color the sand bright,
with the blood of his friend
or the tears of a wife.
He does it with no regrets
no fear for the safety of himself,
only for the ones around him
and that deserves our respect,
for An American Soldier.
