In Between
I'm trying to read between the lines
of what they say
and what they really mean.
I'm stuck between the lines
of who I am and who
I want to be.
But one thing's sure,
I'm no longer who I was.
See, I claimed to be released
But really, I was decieved
diseased,
deceased,
living in the lie of liberty.
But that was then and this is now
And I'm no longer who I was.

This poem was the biproduct of a long journey to freedom. It's the cry of a girl who realized how chained up she was. It's the sound of a girl who realized she no longer had to remain in those shackles.
