Night
Have you ever looked out the window
in the cool midst of the night?
To see the emptiness of the streets,
to watch the dark put out a fight?
 Suddenly, it becomes lonely,
 and doesn't feel quite right
When the only thing that's visible
 Is a sliver of moonlight.
 This loneliness compels me
 To sit, and I indite
a poem dedicated to the time
 the stars may reunite.
And as I'm by this window,
My thoughts race and they ignite,
Someone in this big world of ours
 Is also up tonight.
