Mother Magnolia

I think I’m allergic to

Magnolia Trees.

It doesn’t run too deep.
I don’t want to burn them
I can appreciate them
For their pure
White blooms.

I like the way their broad
Leaves spread,
Like protecting each other.
Evolution touched those leaves
To create a successful tree.
The skin, though, like
Wax figurines, has always
Confused me.
I’ve never seen the point in
That.

Those Trees just aren’t for me.
I don’t think that they
Would do well in my garden.
I like blossoms and herbs,
Ferns and stones.
Transplanting Magnolia
Into my garden just wouldn’t be fair.

My Mother Loves Magnolias.
