I Am Breakfast Cereal
I am breakfast cereal.
I am open-minded.
Take a look in your cupboards, and you may see
an abundance of cereals that look just like me.
Sometimes sweet, sometimes hearty,
either way, I help get your morning started.
So many flavors for your satisfaction,
I come bearing toys to provide your kids a distraction.
I am underappreciated.
You’re quick to pass me off onto another,
saying I’m more fit for your sister or brother.
It’s hard to compete with pancakes and bacon,
but who’s got the time to wait while it’s makin’?
It’s easy to hate me when I’m drenched and soggy,
but I’m always there in the mornings when you’re groggy.
I am a teammate.
An easy way to calm the hunger
of adults and children 100 or younger.
Waiting for my glory in the back of the cabinet.
For a healthy breakfast, I am always and advocate.
I pair well with an apple and glass of milk,
as long as you remember to take me off the shelf.
With so many choices for this morning staple,
you can’t go wrong putting me on your table.
I am breakfast cereal.
