You Don't Know Me, But I Love You

You were everything I'd ever dreamed.

Tall, smart, handsome.

But not once did I hear you speak.

A nod was all you gave me.

But it was more than enough.

You don't know me, but I love you.

You come from a different world.

One that I'll never know.

But I do know it would never work.

After all, not a single word was spoken.

It may not have mattered, I suppose.

You don't know me, but I love you.

You may have a girlfriend.

Or a wife and kids.

Or maybe something else entirely.

I never saw a wedding band.

Or even a tan line.

Trust me when I say I searched for one.

You don't know me, but I love you.

One look and it all seemed so simple.

A smile and a kiss.

Then wedding bells and babies laughing.

I've been known for my over-active imaginaton.

You don't know me, but I love you.

Maybe it's for the best.

You could be something far too much for me.

But I finally found that love is real.

Even for just a fleeting moment.

So thank you.

You don't know me, but I love you.
