I am made of stone.

I am stone,
Stone
That bleeds and beats
Breathes and weeps
Hidden from the sun.

I am made of stone.
Strong
Like aluminum tiles
Set defense 'gainst wind that gales
—Crumpled, jagged, smile wan.

I am stone—
Smoothed
By pounding liquid waves
Until my tattered hull concaves
My splintered laughter runs.

And I am made of stone
Cold
Like Hell-fire sparks
Like passion torq'ued into parts
Of cracking, splitting ember glown.

I am stone...
But
You're ten thousand age
Of gust and grind, a single gaze
Sand to silt, I'm blown—

I am… Stone
Yet
Arms erode to nakedness
Organs warm and wet and less
That feathers’ breadth or brawn

Stone—
I am stone...
I am—
Home.
