People are funny
In the way that they
Are jealous
Or generous

And so much depends upon
The way that they reveal
A hand of kindness
Or a dealt deck of vice

An offhand remark
Can break the very twine
That a child’s innocence, and mine
Walks on

Eggshells can become
Hard cement
If only you rely
On the funny people
And their funny ways
