Weight of the Water

Staring at the ocean
Waves crashing along your feet
Salt blowing in the air
Your feet begin to walk in the water
Little splashes hitting your legs
You swim out farther and farther
No longer touching
Gravity is gone
You let yourself sink underneath
Waves traveling over you
Creating motion
You want to come up
Lungs gasping for air
Arms and legs wanting to move
You stay there
Floating helplessly under the waves
You stare at the surface
Sunshine hitting it
Gleaming directly in your eyes
The weight of the world
On your shoulders
Telling you to stay underneath
Sounds of the ocean
Water sloshing in your ears
Fish flapping their fins around you
Seeing the plants sway
You give up
Swimming to the surface
Your lungs gasping for the air you need
Making your way over to a rock
The weight of the water
On your shoulders
