Ghost

How quiet the room is.

the low hum of lights overhead and 4 stifling white walls

curtains drawn and the floor strewn with clothes

vacant, no wearer to fill up to its seams.

As if under possession of some spirit

perhaps--  a brooding storm, long drifted away

had found its way to my room, wandering

and stayed. crept like cool ivy

through the cracks of the closet door, tread on cream carpet, and you leap--

On ruffled pillows and bed cover, laughed

breathed life ,

into our photos, frames perched on my shelves

your favourite books and melodies sing sweet memory

A cloud,  that rained so generously, love--

love through all those seasons

In this manner, with a little carefree smile and dreamful eyes,

you fled straight through the panes of the window

Elusive, like some ghost

your shadows linger where I once followed --and still follow,

tracing the silhouette of you through every

hollow depth in everything I have and I am

Still etched somewhere, your tombstone

The letters that spell out your name on my heart
