Bay Nights
The summer nights are mellowing in,
So the house on the bay is where I stay:
Never do the skies grow gloomy,
Never do they fade to gray.
Calm are the rippling waves,
Reflecting the setting sun;
Like a mirror in the water, it is,
A gate to the beauty in everyone
The night has finally called my name
The sun is down, but it is no shame.
The crickets chirp continuously,
The fish must be at rest.
The cool breeze still blows across,
The boats that knock back and forth
Emerging lights scatter the sky above,
As the stars dance and sing the night away.
Clear my mind and enlighten my soul,
The bay is the place I am free;
It is the place where I feel at home

This piece was inspired by the times I spent sitting at the dock of a bay, listening to the sounds of nature, watching the sun set and the stars emerge, and the overall pleasantness of the calming setting.
