Signal Not Found
Marching together on one clear path
Till it was time to explore
Now we pick a trail
Leading us to our dreams
Tom went to space
And Anne loved to fly
While Jim liked to swim
Hannah wanted to fix
Even before the sun went to sleep
Everyone shot for the stars
Aiming at the red dots
Signaling their beginning and end
But I was nowhere to be found
On the little black screen
A flickering dot to mark my start
But nothing that defines my finish line
When I walked up rocky hills
It told me to turn back around
And when I slid down slippery slopes
It told me the path did not exist
I chose a path
Taken by no one else
While it screamed
SIGNAL NOT FOUND
Forgotten by others
I stood far away
Watching them take shortcuts
And shelters marked by the GPS
While I trudge on
Into another forest
And reach for
My unidentified destination
