The lights in our cities
I’ve heard of moonlight (who hasn’t)
But I've never thought about it much
Street lights
Car lights
Lights from other people's houses
Were things that I thought made up the shadows at night
But now I watch my shadow swinging
An hour away from any town
And back and forth across the rocks
They look so pure, so clean
Untouched even
But I know that is wrong because the light from the moon has
blanketed everything
