I Know You, who are you
Today I would like to wonder why
you stop, head cocked like
a pendulum poised to return
to rest
And don’t swing back
Tomorrow I will like to wonder why
you stream blurred, so like
condensation tracks on a windowpane
sliding down
away from my clearing finger
Yesterday I liked to wonder why
you curled in, packaging bones and mind
so neatly in crinkly recycled newspaper
Double-knotted
threads curdling into tangled galaxies
Straight ahead and left and right and
Up and down in scored rivers, still
damp leaves clumped in a drain, time breathes
Stale air freshener over our musty stench.
blows away my whys
