Native America
Strong hands
hold a bow
of indigo
cutting
this Apache man
in two.
Earth cloaks him--
yellow daisies
flow to
green forests
and soil’s umber.
Purple midnights
float behind,
lifting him.
This Apache man
wears not red, white, and blue
but stands for America
more than
anyone
who does.

I did an ekphrastic style poem here to think of the topic. I learned more about myself when I wrote this and I have a new discovery about who I am.
