My Skin
Who is there to protect my skin?
open ended nerves and sensitive, a brush of
foreign touch leaves them stinging,
touch removed, fleeting, yet the impact
remains, a stain, heavy on my skin,
there is nothing else to do, rub it off, stain until
it is numb and washes away,
then you must cover it all,
Drape fabric over it, armor against the world,
does it matter?
Impressions of accidental crashes sear into
flesh, insects crawling under skin they march
in place, never resting, you cannot rest until
you rub it away away and further away, is your
skin raw?
No matter
