Why did I ever take you for granted?
Why did I never accept this gift?
You who had always been there,
Is it too late to take back what I had?

The melody that would expel,
Did I lose that too?
May I try once more to find the melody
That I never accepted as my own?

You who had always been there
Why did I reject you?
Can I repay you for my childish intellect?

The way I ran across strings,
Traveling along eighty-eight ivory steps,
Never wanting to meet you.

You who made me finally look beyond my horizons,
May I atone for my sins?
Why did I ever take you for granted?
Why did I never accept this gift?
