I'm sorry you don't meet these standards

So please sit quietly and mind your manners.

Hold up your head but not too high

Do what I say and don't ask why.

Paint on your make-up but don't cake your face
Show a little skin but don't be a disgrace.

For this is how it should be

Of course, because it's the land of the free.

Speak up but not aggressively

Raise up your children accordingly.

Make your house luxurious

Don't get too curious.

Don't fret or complain

Hold on, sorry. I have to get back to the old ball and chain.

The author's comments:

My inspiration for this poem was standard for girls that I've been told by my dad or from peers.
I made couplets because i wanted to show that there is two standards, and each standard is contradicting itself
