The Stage
Polished wood shines under my feet.
Lights beat down on me and bring heat.
Hundreds of eyes glued on the stage,
if I make a mistake I will be enraged.
Sitting backstage preparing to go on,
where has the time gone?
Just a few years ago I sat in the background,
but now I stand right in front of the crowd.
The spot light blinds me as I sing my solo.
The words roll off my tongue in a steady flow.
The audience applauds as the lights fade out.
When I walk off the stage, people begin to cheer and shout.
After years of practicing my time on the stage has come to an end,
now all I have left are memories and many new friends.
I have taken on countless roles during my career,
and in the process learned more about myself throughout the years.
The stage will forever hold a special place in my heart.
If only high school would slow down or restart,
I could go back and do it all over again.
I thank the Lord for the opportunities he has given me, Amen.
