Contract of Love

A Shakespearean love,
commenced an unrequited love,
achieved by unflagging court.
Soon, bodies are bound to one another by heartstrings,
a love as perfect as the crisp elegance of lily of the valley.
Yet flowers do wither
ever so softly,
ever so slowly,
ever so subtly.
Flesh against rotten flesh,
the other heart unknowing.
Tenderness soured by time and neglect
precipitates an abandoned mind’s discern.
Accosting with candor prompts an abrupt destruction of a forsaken soul,
left with unsettled thoughts and pusillanimous in love.
Natheless, thoughts do terminate with the end of breath
and life dissolves after such breathtaking devotion.

Envious of the unbroken stoic,
transforming devastation to lust creates
a desire for touch.
Affection is obtained,
be that as it may, holds retaliation.
A facade presenting malice and enmity,
created to conceal continuing attraction
to an unwanting subject.
Inspiration is still drawn
from the blood of a raw wound,
revealing an art unseen.
However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
and the broken will thrive,
acknowledging credit where credit due.
