a lover

the ocean is a lover
who touches the shore gently
with every wave
and seduces the admirers
with her overwhelming smell of sea salt
the ocean is a lover
who tugs at swimsuit bottoms
begging them to stay
with her aggressive riptide
and sorrowful storms
the ocean is a lover
who wants to keep them forever
to heal her broken heart
but is instead left with a wound
constantly stinging with sea salt
