The Circle Game

We can’t go back, we can only look,
Behind from where we came,
And go round and round and round,
In the circle game.
Seasons change, years fly by,
As moments and memories wisp into blurbs.
A time to reflect, reminisce, and remember,
Those we have wronged, and trials we have triumphed over.
We need to recollect, pass on the morals and lessons,
Grasp all we can and cling on to what makes us unique.
But it passes before we even realize it has unfolded,
Right in front of our very eyes.
We live for the future but miss the present,
What we leave behind is a print of our attempt,
To carve out moments that need to be left behind.
But we miss the big picture,
The entire purpose of life entirely.
To live each day to the best of our abilities,
And not regret what has only made us stronger.
Because we can’t go back, we can only look,
Behind from where we came,
And go round and round and round,
In the circle game.
There are no second chances,
No rewinds or do-overs.
Live life the best way you know how,
And it’s good no matter what happens.
Because when it is over,
when it all comes down to it.
You can wholeheartedly say,
You left nothing undone;
No question unanswered nor story untold.
The truth of our lives lie in each and every day,
And if you blink, years may pass you by.
So don’t live for tomorrow, embrace the now,
And fight to be heard, and leave your mark,
Without waiting another second.
We can’t go back, we can only look,
Behind from where we came,
And go round and round and round,
In the circle game.
