I come from
Love

Loving
My friends
Both near and far

Loving
My brother
And my sister

I come from
My friends

Sweet
Supportive
And special

I come from
My immediate family

Unique
Understanding
Yet utterly divided

I come from
My extended family

Loving
Loud
And liberal

I come from my best friend
Who is also my family

I come from
Being raised to know
To be grateful

For friends
For inside jokes
And special opportunities

I come from
Being raised
To be thankful

For family
For vacations together
And holidays
Dedicated to bonding

I come from
Family dinners

Family dinners
Loaded with laughter
And love

I come from
A long line
Of writers

I come from
A love
Of words

I come from
Hardships
That shape me

And obstacles
That make me

But most of all

I come from
Love

The author's comments:

I was inspired to write this poem because I was feeling very reflective. Sometimes it is difficult to remember that even through tough times, perspective is key. I wrote this poem to remind myself that I have so many things to appreciate in my life, whether it be friends, family, my school, or my teachers. It is impossible to encapsulate everything that "I come from" in one poem, so I narrrowed it down. I am so grateful to have so many wonderful people in my life, and I know that you know who you are. You are the ones I come from. Thank you.
