Will the coconut’s drop
Will the lightning’s strike
Will a single sting
Be the Reaper’s
Harvester: picking off
The rotting stalk
Which infects
Even the golden grain;
The apple of
A farmer’s eye.
Yes, he trims
To keep the others
Growing
To their full
Height.
But no sickle
Can compare to
Death’s relentless knife.
