Sometimes I want to shrivel up and hide
Away from everyone,
Away from the world,
Alone,
So I can figure out who I am.

Not the version of myself
That I’ve found within you,
Within the rubber tires of your car
Driving on wet asphalt,
Within rain drenched clothes
That stick to our skin,
Within burning cigars
That we rolled like the tides,
In and out,
Breathing hope of sweet relief,
From everyone,
From the world,
From the fact that I don’t know
Who I am…

Then it’s gone
And I don’t feel it anymore.
